Deliverables |
Notes: (1) The Work Package lead
partners are indicated by the highlighted box in the matrix. (2) Much
of the project Co-ordination, and of the project Reporting, has been supported
by Martin O'Connor (C3ED) and other tenured researchers of university
institutions, hence this does not appear in the person-months specified
above.
Objectives:
The Transversal work packages ensure the effective piloting of the project,
including the co-ordination of work, communication between partners, and
production of project deliverables towards their final "user"
destinations.
Work description:
WP1.A "Project Coordination" was the piloting of the consortium,
the responsibility of Martin O'Connor (C3ED: Partner 1, ensuring that
deliverables dates are met, that the partners are working together, and
that reporting and other deliverables are communicated in an effective
and timely way to the European Commission and other potential users. This
includes scheduling of meetings and, responsibility for organisation and
reporting of two major VIRTU@LIS Workshops (which may, however, be hosted
by a different VIRTU@LIS partner).
WP1.B "Citizens-ICT and Environment" has produced a study
based on synthesis of existing literature and partners' own experience,
defining the state-of-the-art for design and exploitation of ICT in social
learning contexts, applied to environmental management, sustainable development
and environmental education. This WP has been led by Sandrine Simon (Open
University: Partner 6) supported by Partners 1 (C3ED), 9 (UMilan) and
10 (J. McGlade at CoMPLEX). A preliminary outline has been presented to
the Project Meeting in Month 2, and a full draft completed for Month 6.
WP1.C "Project Reporting" under the overall responsibility
of Martin O'Connor (C3ED) has constituted the contractually defined documentation
and communication of the project's progress and results to the Commission,
in written, electronic and other formats. All partners have contributed.
WP1.D "Dissemination and Use Planning" under the overall
responsibility of Martin O'Connor (C3ED) with inputs from several partners
and with specialist support from Sub-Contractor SC1 (Futuretec, Germany),
covered three related items: (1) the preparation of a Consortium Agreement
(including agreements on IPRs), (2) the setting out of a preliminary Dissemination
and Use Plan (due at Month 6), and, building on these preliminary perspectives
and the full work of the project, (3) the production of a Technology Implementation
Plan (TIP) at the end of the project. Note: the DUP and the TIP define,
in operational terms, how the consortium envisages that exploitation of
the concepts and prototypes it develops can respond to the needs of citizens,
industry and public administration stakeholders that was outlined
in more social-institutional and pedagogic terms in the study "Citizens-ICT
and Environment" established under WP1.B.
WP1.E "Contributions to Science" under the overall guidance
of Martin O'Connor (C3ED) constituted the work of project team members
to the preparation of articles and electronic documents for presentations
to scientific colloquia and for submission to scientific journals. This
production constitutes the normal and necessary scientific production
of all scientific staff within research institutions, but also of research
and development staff within commercial enterprise. Because of the emergent
nature of scientific contributions, the precise contents of this work
package cannot be designated in advance However, especially for the case
of young researchers working under contract, it is important to signal
this dimension of their work as a component of their career profile. All
partners have contributed.
